Kyla real name is Melanie Hernandez Calumpad. She was born on January 01, 1981.She is a Filipino R&B singer, actress, Model, dubbed as the "R&B Princess of the Philippines". Kyla has won in the prestigious MTV Video Music Awards as 2001 MTV's Southeast Asian Viewers Choice Awardee(who she is the only female local artist who won) along with OPM bands Eraserheads and Parokya ni Edgar. The R&b singer has collaborated with international artists such as Fra Lippo Lippi, Ronan Keating, British boy-band Blue, Malaysian R&B singer Ferhad, Malaysian hip-hop duo Too Phat, and Keith Martin and many compare her voice to Aaliyah and Tamia. She is Classified as Dramatic Coloratura Soprano known for her raspy and husky voice.
